ANTIGONE

by Jean Aniouhle,

Adapted from the original Greek play of the same name by Sophocles. The events are mirrored exactly. Antigone is the youngest daughter of Oedipus and his wife/mother Jocasta. After Oedipus's death the land is torn apart by war as his two sons fight for the throne. When the boys have killed each other peace is restored by Jocasta's brother, Creon, who decrees that one of the brothers be buried as a hero and that the other be left to rot. Antigone is unable to bear her brother lying unburied, so she defies Creon's rule and buries the body, however she is caught and sentenced to death.

A Midsummer Nights Dream

by William Shakespeare.

Shakespeare's classic comedy of errors was presented in October 2006. It tells four stories simultaneously over the events of one evening; The nuptials of the Duke of Athens and Queen Hippolyta of the Amazons, the agonising torment of the four lovers in their endless round robin of hopeless love, the mechanicals labouring over their simple play and the intertwining tale of the faerie folk whose King and Queen are at odds.
